We just love it when we get the chance to create something a little bit different, like this surf board with lovely hibiscus flowers frozen in it. It really helped set the party scene at the opening of Margaritaville in Sydney.

On 20 September 2012 Hemmesphere (at Ivy) turned 12 in style with a St Tropez tropical theme party. We carved the name Hemmesphere into ice and decorated it with palm tree theming. We’re told it was a night to remember with a glamorous guest list and spectacular features.

It’s looking like it’s going to be a hot one this year, which we’re definitely looking forward to.  It’s always nice to step into a freezer when it’s pushing 40 degrees in the studio.  One design that will be very popular this year is our recent Half Block Luge with coloured logo.  The logo is placed in between two sheets of ice, and the tubes for the drinks shoot through behind the logo.  Being in the middle, the logo and tubes last extremely well and this design will stand up to the searing temperatures we get here in Sydney.

This week at Art of Ice we had the exciting task of replicating none other than Doug Pitt- Brad Pitt’s brother in ice for the Virgin Mobile #fairgobro campaign.

Heartfelt congratulations to everybody who entered the City to Surf fun run today in Sydney.
It was bitterly cold and windy when we set-up the ice sculptures in the Ernst and Young VIP pavilion, so we were just happy we didn’t have to go and run the race ourselves.
Well done to everyone who did, and we’ll look forward to doing it all again next year!

Here’s the latest way to keep beer bottles perfectly chilled, ready for service to your VIP guests. Each beer bottle is nestled in its own recess in the ice, sized snugly so it just fits. With the branding logo at the back, it’s a perfect way to show-case beer. Or other bottled drinks, of course.

Inspired by the trend that’s taking off in the USA right now is our newest show-piece. We’re calling it The Sweetie Bar. We engrave a design such as a heart, a rose, names, monograms on the window piece at the back, and the front has specially designed holes for the lollies. These are already proving very popular for weddings and birthdays.

This week we were commissioned to create a guitar for the VIP room at none other than the Roger Waters “The Wall” concert. The guitar, standing at about 1.5m tall was the absolute centrepiece of the room, lit up in bright red, on one of our new custom made self-contained under-lit ice plinths.

The organisers were thrilled with the result, and so were we.
